1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Agora mobile application ("App," "Service," "we," "us," or "our"), you ("User," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE TO USE THIS SERVICE.
2. Description of Service
The Agora is a mobile platform that connects individuals interested in civil, in-person discussions about politics, religion, and other significant topics. The Service provides:
- User profiles with belief mapping and preferences
- Location-based discovery and matching
- Group formation and messaging capabilities
- Meetup scheduling and coordination tools
3. User Eligibility and Account Requirements
3.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age.

You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use

4.1 Meeting Strangers
THE AGORA FACILITATES CONNECTIONS BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY BE COMPLETE STRANGERS. MEETING PEOPLE IN PERSON, ESPECIALLY TO DISCUSS POTENTIALLY CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS, CARRIES INHERENT RISKS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Physical harm or violence
- Emotional distress or harassment
- Theft or property damage
- Exposure to illegal activities
- Verbal abuse or threatening behavior
4.2 User Responsibility for Safety
YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY. You acknowledge and agree that:
- The Agora does not conduct background checks or verify user identity (unless explicitly stated)
- We cannot guarantee the safety, accuracy, or reliability of any user or their profile information
- You should exercise caution and common sense when meeting anyone from the App
- You should always meet in public, well-lit locations
- You should inform friends or family of your meeting plans and location
- You should trust your instincts and leave immediately if you feel unsafe
4.3 No Liability for User Interactions
The Agora is not responsible for any injury, harm, damage, or loss arising from or related to:
- Meetups arranged through the Service
- User conduct during or outside of meetups
- Disputes between users
- Any content shared between users
5. User Conduct and Community Guidelines
5.1 Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
Violence and Safety:
- Threaten, intimidate, harass, or harm others
- Organize or encourage illegal activities
- Share weapons or discuss violence against individuals or groups
- Engage in hate speech or discrimination
Fraudulent Behavior:
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Provide false or misleading profile information
- Create multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions
- Engage in commercial solicitation without permission
Inappropriate Content:
- Post sexually explicit or pornographic content
- Share content that exploits or endangers minors
- Distribute spam, malware, or phishing attempts
- Violate intellectual property rights
Platform Abuse:
- Attempt to circumvent security measures
- Scrape or data mine user information
- Interfere with the Service's operation
- Use automated systems (bots) to access the Service
5.2 Respectful Discourse
While The Agora encourages diverse viewpoints and open discussion, you agree to:
- Engage in civil, respectful dialogue
- Avoid personal attacks or ad hominem arguments
- Respect others' right to hold different beliefs
- Follow the principle of "disagree without being disagreeable"
5.3 Content Standards
You are solely responsible for all content you post, including:
- Profile information and photos
- Messages and group discussions
- Reviews and ratings
All user content must comply with applicable laws and these Terms.

By using the Service, you consent to our collection and use of:
- Profile information (name, age, photos, beliefs)
- Location data for matching and discovery features

- Sharing your approximate location with matched users
- Storage of location history for service improvement
You may disable location services at any time, but this will significantly limit or prevent use of the Service.

7. Intellectual Property Rights
7.1 Service Ownership
The Agora and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 User Content License
You retain ownership of content you post, but you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Use, reproduce, modify, and distribute your content
- Display your content to other users as part of the Service
- Use your content for promotional or marketing purposes (with anonymization where appropriate)
7.3 Content Removal
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable, at our sole discretion.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE AGORA AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill
- Any damages arising from or related to your use of the Service
- Any harm resulting from meetups or user interactions
- Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your content
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

- You are solely responsible for your own safety
- The Agora is not liable for any harm arising from your use of the Service
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
